In Summary
  • President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and former President Moi are among those named in the report.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has demanded the full implementation of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission report despite it adversely mentioning party members.
Fielding questions from journalists after a parliamentary group meeting attended by 70 members of the Senate and the National Assembly, deputy Minority Leader Jakoyo Midiwo said the TJRC report should be tabled in the House for debate and be implemented.
"We want full implementation of the TJRC report with full participation of Parliament," said Mr Midiwo.
"Anybody whether big or small who is implicated in the report should face full force of the law so that justice can be done to those affected."
Mr Midiwo, however, said ODM was waiting to see the report and peruse it before issuing a comprehensive statement on way forward.
ODM party leader Raila Odinga chaired the PG at Orange House, Nairobi.
More than 30 sitting and former MPs or senators are among prominent personalities facing fresh prosecutions following allegations that they were behind the 2007/08 post election violence.
Many others will also be investigated or prosecuted in connection with serious crimes, including assassinations, theft of public land and incitement to violence.
ODM leaders Henry Kosgei, Chris Obure, William Ole Ntimama, Alfred Khangati, Joseph Nkaissery, Elizabeth Ongoro and Sally Kosgei are among those named in the report that was handed over to President Kenyatta on Tuesday.
President Kenyatta and Mr Ruto, feature in the report over claims that they masterminded the 2007 poll chaos that led to the killing of 1,133 people.
The two were, however, spared any action because they are facing the same charges at the International Criminal Court.
Mining Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala is accused of inciting and funding violence.
