Paul Muite says more Mau Mau cash on the way

“The compensation paid out was just the first phase because we are only paying victims who are alive and now we are going to move to the second phase,” he added.

In an interview with The Standard On Saturday Mr Muite said there are many more torture victims who ended up dying at the hands of the British and that there must be a way of how they will be compensated.
“How do you go about compensating those who were tortured and ended up dying ? This matter is not over because there were those who were shot dead in the forests others were detained for over seven years and they left their families,” he added.
Muite noted that he would like to see a situation where the Kenyan Government takes over and engages the British Government on the matter. “Now it’s the time for the Kenya government to engage the British government and bring a closure to these matter and they should be prepared to spend some money,” he added. He further noted that for instance he would like the country to be told by the British Government on the mystery surrounding the late Dedan Kimathi.
“How do you build a monument for the late Kimathi for instance yet we don’t know where he was buried as we keep on being tossed from one place to another,” he added.
