President Uhuru Kenyatta: new constitution should not divide Kenyans

Saturday, June 15th 2013, By PPSKAJIADO, KENYA: President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on all Kenyans to embrace peace in everything they do in order to create a progressive, all-inclusive and prosperous nation.
Speaking on Saturday during the late Prof. George Saitoti’s memorial service in Kitengela, President Kenyatta urged leaders to engage less in squabbles and focus more on serving the people of Kenya.
The President said the new Constitution which provides for two levels of Government should be respected by all.

“That Constitution was not supposed to divide us. It was actually supposed to bring us closer as a nation,” the President said.
The Head of State emphasized that the new Constitution was aimed at ensuring that the work of those in leadership is felt in every corner of the country.
President Kenyatta reiterated his commitment to working with leaders from all parts of the country for the benefit of Kenyans, saying working together will positively transform the nation.
“As I have always stated, I stand ready to work with all leaders towards that fulfilment, knowing fully well that no individual has the capacity to deliver single-handedly,” he said.
Paying tribute to the late Saitoti, the President described him as a great son of the nation who served the country diligently for over 30 years in different capacities.
President Kenyatta, therefore, said leaders should emulate the late Prof. Saitoti’s humility and spirit of servant leadership.
