A Law student’s future prospects are “not looking good” after he was jailed for cutting a man’s face with a glass.
Joshua Maina, 24, lashed out at Wilson Harris after an argument at a party in Cowley last October.
Maina, left, was jailed for 18 months at Oxford Crown Court yesterday after admitting unlawful wounding.
Prosecutor Cathy Oliver said Maina was arguing with Mr Harris when he “suddenly” hit him with the glass he was holding.
She said: “He didn’t see it coming and it hit him below the left eye.”

She said Kenyan born Maina, of Woodhouse Way, Iffley, Oxford, “kept apologising” for the assault and begged his victim not to tell the police. He even gave first aid to Mr Harris and accompanied him to the hospital for treatment.
Tom Stevens, defending, said Maina was a business and law student at theUniversity of the West of England.
He said: “He has aspirations for a career in law and he knows with this mark against his name his future prospects are not looking good.
“He is a young man filled with great shame.”
Judge Patrick Eccles told Maina that there was no excuse for doing what he did with the glass. — Thisisoxfordshire
