A Kenyan man who was jailed in April 2012 for brutally attacking his girlfriend with a hammer has appealed his sentence.
Gideon Maiyo is appealing his 14 years sentence which he received after being charged with Attempted First Degree Murder after he allegedly hit his girlfriend Elizabeth Kogo, in the head 8 times with a hammer and critically injuring her in 2011.
According to court documents obtained byJambonewspot.com , the case will be mentioned today August 13th at 1.30pm at the Kansas Court of appeals in Wichita, Kansas.

The case will be heard before Supreme court judges Hon. Henry W. Green, Jr., Hon. Stephen D. Hill, and Hon. Patrick D. McAnany.
After the attack, Ms Kogo also from Kenya was admitted at Wesley Hospital for two months after the head of the hammer lodged into her skull.
Thankfully, Ms Kogo is enroute to full recovery. She plans to attend the appeals case.
Speaking after the attack in 2011 to a group of women in Kansas, Ms. Kogo had asked women to do what she did not. She said that though Maiyo had been violent before, she never left. She asked other women not to repeat her mistake.
