I have always argued that Raila Odinga’s body language and utterances betray his inner psyche. Psychologists will call this fixation — a repeat of a stage somebody skipped in the developmental stages of childhood.
Raila’s fixation with attention is unrivaled. If he is not whining about a carpet that looks like a “Nusu Mkeka”, he will be complaining about his office not having a Presidential Toilet; If he is not lamenting about his cars as a co-president, he will be shouting mad about a VIP lounge he has been denied access to despite his being a prime minister( there has been no other PM, so he retains the tittle!).
Perhaps we should not blame Odinga. He was born in a large family where competition for the attention of his late father, old Jaramogi Oginga was fierce. That is why Odinga is projecting his frustrations on the rest of the country. Psychologists will tell you that son of Jaramogi is blackmailing us to buy him the toys he missed in childhood.
I have always argued that this country has been held to ransom by Odinga’s unfulfilled childhood. The only way we will be at peace is to try to buy Odinga the things he missed in childhood to arrest his wild spirit. Give him the four-wheeled toys and other assorted rags he desires.
As Kenyans, we need to soothe the Odinga’s ever-snowballing ego to remain peaceful. Give him all the sweet names he so desires to have. The Right Hon. Raila, EGH, GHC, CRE etc.
Odinga has always reminded us that we would not be alive today had he not chosen to defend us. Who are we to doubt him? When Alligator comes out of water and tells you Crocodile is sick, do you doubt him?
The mapambano gospel Odinga has always preached in his desecrated pulpit of hatred has entrenched hard tribal feelings that will take ages long after he is gone.
The gospel he preached in 2007 which is found in the book of John chapter 41, tribes versus one tribe, will forever be engraved in our memories.
