The Kenyan community in Dallas will gather tonight in remembrance of those killed during during a four-day siege at the Westgate Mall in Nairobi.
At least 67 people were killed during the shooting rampage by extremists from al-Shabab, a Somalia-based militant group.

Organizers of tonight’s “Heal the Nation” vigil hope to bring unity and solace to the more than 30,000 Kenyans living in Texas.
“We need to get together and stand as one so Kenyans know that there are other people here going through the same thing,” event organizer and native Kenyan Esther Kanuya said.
The vigil will feature poetry, music, and prayer. Attendees will also observe more than a minute of silence–one second for each life that was lost in the massacre.
Dallas residents who wish to help those affected by the shooting in Kenya are encouraged to make donations to the Red Cross.
“Any donation can go a long way, but also make sure to reach out and call a friend,” Kanuya said. “Don’t let anybody go through something like this alone. Reach out to them. Make them open up.”
The vigil will take place from 8-9 p.m. in the parking lot of the Afrika Fusion Restaurant, 18900 Dallas Parkway, in North Dallas.
