STAFF OF BARCLAYS PREMIER were HEROES AT WESTGATE

My daughter and I were caught in the terrible events at the Westgate. We has just stepped out of the Barclays Premier banking hall when the terrorists struck. We rushed back into the bank where staff reacted quickly directing all customers to safety.

One of the staff a lady called Queen, remained focused, ushering all of us through security doors into the staff kitchenette. Even though they were shaken, Queen and her colleagues had the presence of mind to ensure that we all wrote down our names, telephone numbers etc which they immediately communicated to the Bank’s head of security.

During the five or so hours that we were there, they kept us informed on the co-ordination efforts to rescue and evacuate us. They kept calm and positive and even offered us water, coffee, fruits and omelets!.

Despite the emotions that they too were were experiencing, they encouraged and gave all of us hope that we were going to come out alive and we did.

Even though it is not easy to put into words what we went through on Saturday, the harrowing experience was made slightly easier to bear in the company of the courageous staff at the Bank.

Please extend my daughter Mellie and my heartfelt Asante to all the staff who were there.

They are true heroes who helped save 30 lives that day.
