Former ruling party Kanu, Kiambu branch, has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to ignore calls by Cord to hold a national dialogue terming it “a waste of time”. They accused Cord leaders of playing with the minds of Kenyans, saying they should provide solutions to the problems facing the country instead of calling for a national dialogue.

Speaking after addressing county party delegates in Limuru yesterday, branch chairman Karanja Sakina said it should dawn on Jubilee that Cord has already set an agenda and therefore, agreeing with them will be impossible. He said if Cord has the welfare of the country at heart, it should approach the relevant government departments and provide solutions instead of calling for public rallies to “incite” Kenyans into rebelling against the government.

Karanja challenged the youth to form groups and apply for the Uwezo Fund to enable them start income-generating activities. “I urge the youth and women to stop idling and instead form groups and apply for the Uwezo Fund to enable them start small businesses. If you remain idle, you will likely be easy prey for power- hungry politicians,” he said.

On Monday, the President called upon leaders to desist from dividing Kenyans along tribal lines because it is counter-productive and retrogressive. He said the Jubilee administration is ready for dialogue on matters of national importance, but only with elected leaders and not impostors.
