Choose between dialogue and political storm, Raila tells Uhuru

By FREDRICK ODIERO

Cord leader Raila Odinga yesterday warned President Uhuru Kenyatta of dire consequences if he does not agree to the proposed national dialogue with the Opposition. He told the President to ignore the dialogue calls at his own peril. The former PM, who spoke at various stops in Kisumu, said the writing is on the wall for the Jubilee administration, adding that the Saba Saba deadline given to the government to call the talks is still on.

Odinga said at Kondele, Oginga Odinga Street, Accra Road and the ODM regional offices the dialogue has been proposed to address the myriad problems afflicting Kenyans. “The dialogue will address insecurity, economy, youth affairs and many other things afflicting Kenyans. He warned that he does not know what will happen in Kenya if the government does not heed the dialogue calls. He said the Head of State initially agreed to the proposed dialogue talks but recanted the same again.

“He instead invited me for tea at State House, I cannot go there to take tea” he said. He said Cord plans to invite various interested groups during the planned countrywide rallies to air out their views. Odinga said they will identify the representatives for youth, women, elders and civil society.
