Mathieu Debuchy has confirmed he is set to sign for Arsenal after reports emerged that the Gunners have agreed a £7.9million fee with Newcastle for his services.

Debuchy has been linked with a switch to north London for the last few days with the club in need of a new right-back following Bacary Sagna’s exit to Manchester City.

And after reports emerged that Arsenal have had a £7.9million bid accepted for the player by Newcastle, the 28-year-old has confirmed he will be moving to the Emirates Stadium.

‘Yes, I will be joining Arsenal for next season,’ he told a reporter from TF1 television following France’s World Cup exit to Germany.

Debuchy refused to go into details about the move as he was leaving the pitch at the time, but the rampaging defender is now expected in London for a medical in the next few days.
