Two Jubilee MPs have dismissed Cord co-principals Moses Wetang’ula and Kalonzo Musyoka as ‘mercenaries for hire’ out to seek publicity at the expense of their political parties. They said the two are being used by Cord leader Raila Odinga to redeem his party’s political fortunes after the failed primaries early this year.

The leaders led by Lari MP Mburu Kahangara said the two have lately found it trendy to mention the name of President Uhuru Kenyatta for publicity, adding that Cord has no definite agenda. “Nowadays the Cord leaders are chest-thumping and mentioning Uhuru’s name at every opportune moment, hoping the world will take them as human rights crusaders,” he said.
Championing rights Mburu urged the government to ignore the hurdles being set by the Opposition and instead steer the country towards development, and told Wetang’ula to initiate development projects in Bungoma county instead of blindly following Raila. He regretted that the two who have no revolutionary history, having served in successive governments are now pretending to be redeemers of the downtrodden in the society.
Limuru MP Kiragu Chege said the two are dancing to Raila’s tunes at the expense of their political future. “They hardly organise their own rallies and instead cling on Raila’s tail,” he said, advising them to put the interest of the country first.
