Nyamweya arrested over Harambee Stars woes

People like these should be stripped of being in charge of Kenyan team affairs. They are just hell bent thieves mismanaging the team affairs as loopholes to "eat". Bloody thief ...

FKF chairman Sam Nyamweya has been arrested over the mix-up that left Harambee Stars players stranded at Wilson Airport in Nairobi on Monday

Flying Squad officers arrested Nyamweya at his Karen home on Tuesday and took him to Nairobi Area police station to record a statement.

Head of Flying Squad Said Mohamed confirmed the arrest.

Police said they will launch investigations into the players' delayed departure from the airport to Cape Verde for a return match against the Blue Sharks.

Their chartered flight had allegedly not been paid for barely 24 hours to the match.

No official explanation for the delayed departure was forthcoming as Football Kenya Federation officials did not return calls and neither did the Stars' officials.

The Stars, who earlier declined to travel protesting unpaid allowances, flew to Cape Verde more than eight hours later.

They face Cape Verde on Tuesday and need a draw of any kind to reach the Group stage of the World Cup Qualifiers.

The Stars beat Cape Verde 1-0 in the first leg played at Nyayo Stadium on Friday.
