President fetes Team Kenya in Moscow, Moscow, Russia 16th August 2013 PSCU

President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta today in Moscow, Russia, feted Team Kenya in a luncheon and pledged more support for the Kenyan sportsmen and women.

Saying Kenyans are proud of their achievements, President Kenyatta termed Kenyan athletes as gracious ambassadors of the country and that every single Kenyan celebrates their success.

He congratulated all sportsmen and women saying their success reflects the dignity, resilience, focus hard work and determination of all Kenyans.

Said the President, “You have continuously proved to the world that Kenya is sports power house and despite the many challenges you face it is possible for you to be number one.” 

The President noted that Kenya has a rich talent in all field events which need to nurtured through provision of necessary facilities to enable the youth earn their livelihood through their God given gifts.

He said other world leaders are impressed by the industrious young Kenyans who though coming from a third world country are giving headache to those with privileged facilities in developed nations.

President Kenyatta awarded cash prizes to all medal winners and participants with each Gold medalist getting 2000 US Dollars, Silver Medalist 1000 US Dollars, Bronze medalist 500 and each participant and technica team getting 200 US Dollars.

President athletes Kenya Isaiah Kiplagat said the competition at the 14th edition of IAAF championships has been stiff relegating behind the top traditional countries in athletes.
