Why cutting ties with an ex is no longer an easy task

Friday, September 20th 2013, By MISSMANDI

Recently while enjoying a drink with my girls, I received a facebook message from my ex. I was shocked, to say the least.
Two years apart and the guy claimed how he missed me.
Not in a mood to spoil my evening, I decided to ignore him. One hour later, he had liked all my FB photos and it hit me this guy was on ‘a comeback mission’.
A few days later when I told my girlfriend the story, she revealed her ex had tried the same line.

Apparently, the guy had sent her a facebook message requesting they meet up for dinner.
For some reasons, I think social media has made the ‘return of the ex’ too easy.
Cutting ties with an ex is no longer an easy task especially if you had previously declared your love online.
Finally, the ex who broke up with you and months later, got married and all of their pictures are on your timeline.
Apart from exes using social media to try to win your heart back and get some cookie jar, they also rely on text messages to lure you into their web.
Text messages are intimate and send a non-verbal kind of message since you don’t get to hear a voice or get to see a facial expression.
One has to simply decode what that person means and they could be decoding the wrong impression.
One thing is for sure; a text message that comes in at anytime from 11pm and later is a booty call.
There is an ex who will go on a liking spree of your photos, one who will check when your birthday is and of course, send a message and if generous enough, flowers and black forest cake is delivered to your office desk.
Then there is the ex who untags all the pictures you took together (don’t you just hate that?)
The ex who still has your naked pictures. The ex who is currently dating someone who posts everything about their love and sex life, which ends up being shared by one of your many friends in your timeline.
Exes are notorious for sending “I miss you” texts; and my two cents is never believe him especially if you have moved on. It is a trap.
Social media messages and text messages from the ex can make you believe you are ready to dive back into the relationship. Tread carefully.
