Shun politicians agitating for a referendum says Ruto

By KNA
Deputy President William Ruto has told off those pushing for a change of the constitution saying that their move is meant in pursuing selfish political ends.
Ruto who was speaking Friday at Sagana on his way to Nyeri to open the Central ASK show said that it was emerging that those who lost in the March 4 elections were yet to come to terms with the reality.
He explained that it was hypocritical for anyone to start eliciting political fever in the country just because he feels it is the only way he can ascend to power.
“Are those calling for a change in the legislation stipulating the election of the President implying that the reason they failed in the polls was because the constitution was a failure and not themselves,?” posed Ruto.
Ruto said those desperate in usurping power through such mischief will achieve defeat regardless of whether the constitution is altered once or a 100 times over.
On development, Ruto urged Kenyans to support the Government in implementing its development agendas for the good of all people.

He said the Jubilee administrations was committed in fulfilling its pre election pledges to the people as witnessed on Sunday when President Uhuru Kenyatta unveiled the sh 6 billion Uwezo fund.
The money which was initially set aside to conduct a run off in case there was no clear winner in the March 4 elections will now be loaned to youths and women groups to start income generating activities.
The deputy President similarly said the Government is planning to construct a fertilizer factory at the Coastal region to help cushion farmers against high costs of producing crops.
“We want our farmers to increase production by accessing cheaper fertilizers. This will not only encourage our farmers in their work but also ensure our country has enough food for to feed her population,” added Ruto.
Ruto urged residents of Kirinyaga County to continue praying for him and President Kenyatta on their upcoming cases against the ICC and exuded confidence that the charges leveled against them will eventually be dropped.
Present during the stop over included Kirinyaga County Governor Joseph Ndathi, his counterparts Mwangi wa Iria(Murang’a),Nderitu Gachagua(Nyeri) together with Ndia MP Stephen Ngari.
