Raila Odinga and Moses Kuria are at popular Nairobi restaurant, Ronalo's for lunch, a meal expected to mark their new beginning after days of tussles.

Kuria, who is Gatundu South MP, said he would use the opportunity to thank the Cord leader for forgiving him for alluding to a plot for his assassination.

The two are with leaders who were arrested and detained on hate speech charges.

They are woman representatives Aisha Jumwa (Kilifi) and Florence Mutua (Busia), Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri, Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama, Suna East MP Junet Mohamed.

Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu and Kitutu Masaba's Timothy Bosire missed the lunch.

Cord co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper leader) and Moses Wetang'ula (Bungoma Senator) will also have lunch with them.

The agenda of the meeting is unknown but it is expected that the leaders will discuss national unity and cohesion, after sharing a dish of ugali,  osuga and fish, as Kuria requested.

Raila is expected to call on the leaders to practice tolerance and ensure peace as the country heads gears for the August 2017 general election.

Kuria was arrested last Tuesday and detained for allegedly issuing the assassination remarks during an address at Kasarani

Days later, Raila said he had forgiven him "unconditionally" as he did not mean what he said. The opposition chief also said the MP would not have made a public announcement had he intended to have him assassinated.
