Uhuru and Ruto currently meeting finalize cabinet appointments.

Wednesday, the 10th of April 2013 - The Kenyan DAILY POST has learnt that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto are currently meeting at State House Nairobi to finalize the list of their 22 cabinet appointments.

The pair have the responsibility of picking the first Cabinet in Kenya’s history that will be comprised of people who are not sitting members of Parliament as required by the constitution.

With the Jubilee Coalition being a 50/50 partnership between TNA and URP, Uhuru and Ruto are expected to split the 22 appointments evenly. However the pair must also ensure that they adhere to the constitutional requirement that the Cabinet reflects Kenya’s diversity.

This could even be more difficult given that Uhuru and Ruto must also accommodate coalition partners like Najib Balala, Charity Ngilu and former Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Ongeri who lost out in the elections.

With the ambitious goals that Uhuru and Ruto have set for themselves within the first 100 days in power, they will need an energized, talented and dedicated team to achieve them which perhaps is the reason why they are said to be only considering only ‘youthful’ candidates.

Uhuru and Ruto are expected to announce their Cabinet appointments at any time before Friday.
