That the world powers that be have panicked is not in doubt. The world powers that be have all along believed that they can carry out social manipulation to impose their preferred candidate in Kenya.
That they have been carrying out intelligence almost three times in a week is not in doubt, and they do not like what the intelligence is showing them.
As earlier reported in this forum, their projections about Kenya have all failed: That a Kikuyu won't run for presidency, that therefore GEMA votes will determine the next president for somebody outside the Mt Kenya region, that Kenyatta being the charismatic leader is capable of guiding the Mt Kenya vote to vote as a block (and therefore the ICC stigmatization tag), that if they propped two candidates from Mt Kenya region to divide the votes (one from lower Mt Kenya region and upper Mt Kenya region) they will split the votes and hence push their preferred candidate.
None of that has happened, and worse still, what was never in their picture has happened. Ruto amd Kenyatta have decided to work together and managed to convince their respective communities to support them almost to a man.
Concerted efforts have been made, particularly by the ambassador of one of the countries which has felt they have been sidelined by the KIbaki administration. He has been meeting Kalenjin elders behind closed doors in an effort to persuade them to back their preferred candidate or at least use their influence to discourage the Kalenjin community from voting for the coalition that they don't even want to mention. The elders seemingly have declined and said, 'we will respect what the people want'.
Many also are the efforts that have targeted the GEMA 'middle class' about possible sanctions, aid blockage, long ICC court periods and such other scary stuff and doomsday prophecy. Unfortunately for them this has not worked, particularly with the most targeted group of upper eastern region.
Now, faced with intelligence that shows the possibility of a first round win for the Jubilee coalition, they have been issuing conflicting and inconsistent statements about a whole range of issues such as sanctions, contact with ICC suspects and many others. This is well understood because the Jubilee coalition may choose to give the west (particularly France, UK and USA) an even colder shoulder that Kibaki has given them.
The US president said they would recognize the elected leader and said that 'disputes should be solved in the courts, not in the streets'. Many interpreted this to be his disapproval of mass action, but there is already apprehension that the courts may order a repeat of the elections should the first round win be between 50. % to 51. %. These fears are informed by the fact that Clinton and Annan have been meeting the Kenyan court officials in seclusion and Kenyans don't know what is discussed in the seclusion.
It is understood that Germany, Japan, Australia and a number of other European countries have refused to be part of the plans to manipulate the Kenyan polls. Likewise it is said that Russia, which wants to regain its lost influence in the world affairs, is lurking in the shadows to embrace and pursue aggressive ties with the East African country should the west be thrown out. They are particularly interested in the Konza Techno city.
Be it as it may, many Kenyans will exercise their democratic rights, and we hope that it will be a win of Africans, who may not want to be a field of social engineering and experiments.
