A dream doesn't become reality through magic. It takes sweat, determination and hard work.

Be persistent as you pursue your dreams

You will hear children share their dreams in their conversations.
“I will be an engineer,” one says.
“I want to be a clinical officer when I grow up,” another chips in.
“Only that? I will be treating you when you get ill,” yet another roars.
These are some of the careers known to children. Whatever they take themselves to be may come to pass because it is said the tongue possesses strong power. People start dreaming when they are still very young. Like a mustard seed, the dream grows into a large admirable tree.
Every sensible person must dream. Those who do not are like trees which move in the direction they are blown by the wind.
News anchor
Dreams are the touchstones of our characters. They enable us to stay alive and awake to all plans we make. They give us the passion that makes us become something. A seed dreams to become a seedling, then a strong and healthy plant. A person should also strive towards being a dream achiever.
Here was a young boy who was praised by everybody as having the right qualities for a future news anchor. His English was near-perfect, his looks beyond reproach, and his intelligence above that of many of his peers. He worked hard and became a teacher, for that was his dream and not what others wanted him to be. His was a call from within that he never abandoned.
Another one felt proud when his friends told him he looked like a business manager, although he was a charcoal burner. He kept that in his heart, imagining that he was a business manager. However, he never made any effort towards achieving what he imagined.
Burning charcoal
Finally, age caught up with him. He was still burning charcoal by the time he realised that it was too late for him to wake up from his dream.
When we become conscious of our ability to be great, no time should be lost in achieving that. We are to use all our resources to reach there and make our dreams become a reality. Do something daily that will inch you closer to your dreams. If you want to be a lecturer, begin by becoming a teacher. The old charcoal burner died with his ambitions.
Even if you are unfortunate and did not have a good foundation as far as education is concerned, you can still get something to do that will enable you to realise your dream and start from there. No matter how long it may take, in the end your dream will be achieved. We should not wait for extraordinary opportunities.
Instead, we should seize occasions and make them great. Sharing dreams can also make us enlighten one another and motivate us to hold on to ours. Many young Kenyans have good dreams, but they do not achieve them because they lack social and financial support.
Parents should never ignore what their children strive to achieve. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be a musician, an actor, or even a comedian. These are realistic dreams.
Beauty of dreams
All people dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night may wake up in the day to find that it was just vanity. Dreamers of the day, however, are a dangerous lot. They may act their dream with open eyes to make it appear possible. Dreams should not be shattered by our worries and troubles.
