Some are claiming...... huge tasks and responsibilities........who asked you to take the job in the first place? you campaigned, lied and got elected....Get on with the job and if you cant, step down.
Friday March 22, 2013 - The greed by Members of Parliament to award themselves huge pay perks is slowly creeping in again with the new MPs elect rejecting their new salary packages as determined by the Salary and Remuneration Commission led by Sarah Serem.
The MP’s led by Njoroge Baiya of Githunguri, Yusuf Chanzu of Vihiga, Oyugi Magwanga of Kasipul Kabondo and Johana Ng’eno of Emurwa Dikkir have now vowed to mobilize their colleagues in protesting against the huge pay cut by SRC.
The MPs accused Sarah Serem’s led commission for putting the MPs in a compromising position by their small salaries given the huge tasks and responsibilities ahead of them.
Mr. Baiya criticized SRC for reducing the work of MPs to a mere joke saying they will lobby for the review of the salaries for all the elected leaders putting in mind the job description.
The new MPs will be paid a sum of sh 532,500 per month almost half of what their predecessors used to get. This translates to a take home of sh 250,000 per month by MPs in the 11th parliament after all statutory deductions down from sh 650, 000 per month by their colleagues in the 10th parliament.
