The National Security and Advisory Committee (NSAC) today warned Kenyans against gathering around the Supreme Court or the KICC saying such ‘idling around’ has become a nuisance;
"This will be disallowed since strategic buildings were under security surveillance and such mobs are a security threat and should be advised to disperse with immediate effect," added the statement.
The NSAC also directed the Mzalendo Kibunja-led National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to deal decisively with "those propagating hate speech and violence in the social media"
According to a statement from the office of the head of civil service Francis Kimemia today’s NSAC meeting was called to discuss the implications of PM Raila Odinga’s recent statement that he won the March 4th Presidential election.
Kimemia said that the NSAC agreed that such statements and planned political meetings (since canceled by CORD) could serve to destabilize the country;
NSAC also called on Raila to give the Supreme Court time to make its ruling;
"Court process should be left to those authorized into courts. Any attempts to disrupt, discredit or intimidate the Courts, IEBC or other institutions of the State will not be tolerated.”
