Friday May 17, 2013 - Uganda law expert, David Matsanga, has written to the International Criminal Court (ICC) President, urging him to consider investigating ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda and former Prosecutor Moreno Ocampo, over what he termed as a flawed investigation in the two Kenyan cases.
In a letter he delivered to the ICC court early this week,
Matsanga insisted that Moreno Ocampo and his successor Fatou Bensouda did not
properly investigate the Kenyan cases, which has made it difficult for them to
prosecute the cases.
“My Lord, I want to request for a face-to-face meeting
because of the happenings that are destroying the image of the ICC,” Matsanga
stated in a letter to ICC President Judge Sang Hyun Song.
He argued that lack of proper investigations in such cases
always compromises the entire process
He also said he is not acting on instructions from any of
the accused persons from Kenya, saying he is acting as a concerned member of
the ICC.
“History will not judge me harshly because I stood by facts
that these gentlemen whom I have never shared food or drink with on the same
table were framed by political opponents,” Matsanga said.
He said President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy William Ruto
and radio presenter Joshua sang are innocent civilians who were sacrificed by
their political nemesis in order to gain political mileage out of their
absence.
The ICC president has so far not responded to the letter.
