You should have known from the word go, Kikuyus don't do things for free, they expect a return and you better pay-up.
Media Mogul SK Macharia is now asking former Prime Minsiter Raila Odinga to refund him Sh800 million he pumped into his campain in the run up to the 2013 general elections.
Macharia who owns Citizen TV and a slew of radio stations across the country sided with the former PM during the last general elections where he went head to head with eventual winner President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In a letter addressed to the CORD stalwarts Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Mr Odinga, he requested a refund of the “loan” he adavnced the coalition during the campaigns.
He further reiterates that the loan has been outstanding for the last one year.
“It is now one year and you have not settled the amount as we agreed in January 2013.” Macharia wrote. “I hope you settle it before the end of July to avoid any legal battle,” he added.
In the run up to the 2013 elections, Mr Macharia declared that he would use all his media outlets to campaign for Mr Odinga. He at the time said he would go door to door in the villages to make sure he is elected.
“I will walk through the villages to campaign for him since I want to remove the barrier between Kikuyu and Luo. He has promised to end poverty,” he said.
He has given Raila and CORD 15 days to clear the loan.
