Tuesday August 6, 2013 - As we mark 50 years since we gained independence, it is good to recall some memorable moments and events that shaped the country and continue urging politicians and leaders to ensure Kenyans live in peace despite their political differences.
Let jog our memories behind and remember the 1969 incident during the official opening of Soviet funded New Nyanza Provincial Hospital.
During the opening of the facility by late President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, irate goons hired by late Jaramogi Odinga threw raw and rotten eggs at President Kenyatta’s motorcade and as a result, within minutes over 300 Luo men were shot dead and thousands wounded.
Why remember this? Maybe that's the same thing RAO was planning to do when uhuru was scheduled for kissi stadium. Who know what in the mind of rowdy desperate RAO. On the other hand, The reason for remembering this is because of last Sunday’s incident at Kasarani Sports Complex where goons associated with Gor Mahia Foot ball club destroyed seats at Kasarani stadia and went outside the stadia where they stoned motorist who passed by the Thika Super Highway.
It seems Gor Mahia goons never learnt a lesson from the Kisumu incident. They better learn a lesson before consequences hit them in the near future.
